Tasting Halal Chinese Noodles at Bakmi Serangkai, Semarang

Hello and welcome to Lutfi’s Archive!

For my first post, I’d like to share a food review of a trending Chinese noodle place that has recently become popular, it’s all about noodles and their delicious friends😋

📍Bakmi Serangkai

The restaurant is called Bakmi Serangkai, located at Jalan Veteran No. 3A, Semarang, Indonesia. It specializes in Chinese style noodle dishes, especially various kinds of bakmi. But don’t worry, all the food served here is halal. The restaurant is situated in South Semarang, and if you’re coming from Dr. Kariadi General Hospital, it’s only about 750 meters to the west. You’ll find a row of eateries, coffee shops, and even a pizza place in that area. Bakmi Serangkai is located on the second floor, and it’s also accessible by public transportation.

(Japanese & Chinese theme)

The interior of the restaurant is designed with a Japanese theme. It’s very Instagrammable, and there are several corners where you can take aesthetic photos. This place is often crowded, especially because of its viral and mouthwatering menu. It’s perfect for small families or work meetings, though it might not be suitable for big tour groups or bus crowds due to its limited space. The cleanliness is well maintained, as the staff will quickly clean the tables once customers leave. They also play pop music in the background to create a relaxing and enjoyable atmosphere.

(Japanese corner)

Their main menu includes Creamy Noodles, Mie Yamin, Beef Noodles, Wontons, and Dimsum. The price range is from IDR 12,000 to IDR 39,000, which is quite affordable, especially for students. What makes it special is that their noodles are homemade, the texture is different from typical noodle places. Some are thin and chewy, while others are slightly thicker, but not as thick as udon. All variations are soft and flavorful, giving you a satisfying noodle experience.

(Bakmi Serangkai's Menu)

The food presentation follows traditional Chinese and Japanese styles. Each noodle bowl comes with toppings according to the type of noodle you order. These include wontons, mustard greens (sawi), grilled beef slices, grilled chicken, boiled chicken, or shredded chicken.

(My order)

During my visit, I tried the Creamy Mala Special Noodles, Mie Yamin Special with boiled chicken and chili oil, and also Chili Oil Wontons. For the creamy noodles, all options come with grilled beef slices. Meanwhile, Mie Yamin allows you to choose between grilled or boiled chicken. Mie Yamin is perfect for those who like salty soup, while dry Yamin (without soup) has a sweeter taste.

In my opinion, eating at Bakmi Serangkai is totally worth it. The variety of menu options, cozy atmosphere, student friendly prices, and excellent service make it a great place to eat. You can visit Bakmi Serangkai from Saturday to Thursday, 12:00 PM to 10:00 PM, and on Fridays from 1:00 PM to 10:00 PM. Keep in mind that the last order is at 9:30 PM. If you're planning to come with a group or for a special event, you can make a reservation through their Instagram account @bakmiserangkai. The ordering system is simple, go to the cashier and take the menu book, find your seat, write down your order on the paper provided, then return to the cashier to place and pay for your meal.

Thank you for reading my culinary experience at Bakmi Serangkai, you must try it when you’re in Semarang☺️🙏
